Chin-Shu Chen Creates a Design that Embodies Love and Heritage

The Love Symbol design, created by renowned designer Chin-Shu Chen, is a truly unique and sentimental residential space. This project holds a special place in the hearts of its inhabitants, as it was a gift from a deceased father to his beloved family. The design not only reflects the father's love and care, but also showcases his artistic talents and cultural heritage.

One of the standout features of the Love Symbol design is the main wall in the living room. Chen selected a stunning stone with gradient colors, reminiscent of oriental ink-painting landscapes. This choice not only adds visual interest to the space, but also symbolizes the passing down of sentiment and heritage. The back of the main wall is designed as a Buddha Hall, featuring calligraphy drawn by the father himself. This infusion of artistic elements creates a rich and meaningful atmosphere in the room.

The use of natural materials is another highlight of the Love Symbol design. The ceiling is crafted with wood, adding warmth and a sense of coziness to the space. The integration of public and private areas is seamlessly achieved through the use of wood, creating a harmonious flow throughout the residence. The coarse or fine patterns on the natural materials introduce a sense of organized linear and dimensional impression, further enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

With a focus on functionality and practicality, the Love Symbol design ensures that every aspect of the space serves a purpose. The dining room, for example, exudes tranquility through rational colors, while also incorporating vibrant hues to convey a warm and cultural attitude. The study room, on the other hand, prioritizes functional arrangement to cater to the needs of work processing.

The Love Symbol design project was completed in Taiwan, Taipei, from January 2018 to August 2018. Throughout the process, Chen conducted extensive research to ensure that the design truly captured the essence of the family's lifestyle. The integration of urban landscape, along with the careful consideration of the father's intentions, resulted in a space that not only reflects the dwellers' sentiment and habits, but also provides a cultural and humanistic dimension that will continue to resonate with future generations.

The Love Symbol design has garnered recognition in the design community and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's well-thought-out and innovative approach, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The design's ability to blend industry best practices with artistic expression contributes to a better world.
